The Japanese Coral Reef Society, 21st Annual Conference


The annual meeting of the Japanese Coral Reef Society (JCRS) in 2018 will be held Nov. 22 to 25 in Naha (Public Symposium on Nov. 22) and in University of the Ryukyus (Nov 23-25), Okinawa, Japan. We are welcome all presentations related to coral reefs as well as highly specialized themes proposed from wider research fields. The conference will serve as an important venue for inter-disciplinary discussions and steps toward the further collaborations among JCRS members. We welcome all of you to attend and enjoy the meeting.

Venues: Public Symposium in Nov. 22nd will be held at Naha “Okinawa Prefecture Seinenkaikan (2-15-23 Kume, Naha-city, Okinawa 900-0033)”.
Main venue for Nov. 23 to 25 will be: 1st and 2nd floors of the Science Collaboration Building, Senbaru Campus, University of the Ryukyus. 1 Senbaru, Nishihara-cho, Nakagami-gun, Okinawa, Japan 903-0213

From Naha Airport:

Take high-way bus #111, 113, 117, 123, 152 or Yanbaru Express (“Yanbaru Kyukou”) bus ⇒ disembark at ”Ryu-dai Iriguchi (Entrance of the University of the Ryukyus)” ⇒ walk up the stairs and turn left, turn left again to cross the bridge over the highway and go straight to enter the University through the North Entrance. 15 min walk to the venue.

From Naha City;

Take bus #97 or 98 ⇒ disembark at ”Ryu-dai Kitaguchi (North Entrance of the University of the Ryukyus)” ⇒ The bus stop is inside the University campus. 15 min walk to the venue

Take bus #97 ⇒ disembark at ”Ryu-dai Higashiguchi (East Entrance of the University of the Ryukyus)” ⇒ 10 min walk to the venue

Monorail to “Shuri Station” ⇒Taxi to University of the Ryukyus Science Collaboration Building (about 20 min, 1500-2000 JPY)


Accommodations should be arranged by each participant. However, there are 14 single rooms equipped with kitchen, bathroom, TV, internet and fridge in the University Guest House near the University’s South Entrance “Nishihara-entrance” (10 min walk from the venue) reserved and available for participants from abroad (about 3000 JPY per night without breakfast, dinner) and students. Please contact the JCRS21 Organizing Committee ( with your name, intended days to check in and check out for early reservation. Please note that there is a 100% cancellation fee applied for each room once it is reserved. The offer will expire once the reservations are filled (first-come-first-serve basis)
