JCRS 23rd meeting

The Japanese Coral Reef Society, 23rd Annual Meetings

 The annual meeting of the 23rd Japanese Coral Reef Society (JCRS), originally scheduled to be held at Ishigaki Island, will instead be held as online virtual meeting from 21st to 23rd November 2020. We are welcome all presentations related to coral reefs as well as highly specialized themes proposed from more broad research fields. The meeting will serve as an essential venue for inter-disciplinary discussions and steps toward further collaborations among JCRS members. We welcome all of you to participate in and enjoy the meeting.

    Call for Registration

     Registration has opened at Aug. 31st and deadline for the presentation and early -bird registration is Sept. 23rd. Please register through the following website by Sept. 23rd. Deadline for registration of mini-workshops is Oct. 5th. Registration for particpation only is possible until Oct. 30.

    Payment of fee

    At this online virtual meeting, the participation fee will be collected only from non-JCRS members and JCRS members of regular memberships. Participation fee for JCRS members of overseas,student, and newsletter memberships are free.

     After you finished registration at the following site 「23rd JCRS registration form (Closed)」,please complete the payment using one of the following methods。

     

      1. Automatic collection based on information registered to JCRS office (regular members only)
      2. Payment at postal office ATM using printed payment slip
      3. Deposit to JCRS account of JP bank or Shikoku bank

    If you register after September 23rd, the participation fee will be higher. Please complete your registration by 9:00 on September 23rd.

     Regular members who were registered as of July 30th should have already received the information on payment of membership fees by credit card settlement or bank account withdrawal. If you have already registered one of them, please select “Credit card (クレジットカード)” or “Bank account (銀行口座)” in “Participation fee payment method (参加費支払い方法)” when applying for participation from the Web site. Payment will be automatically collected on October 26 for credit card payments or on October 30 for bank account withdrawals.

    2. Payment at postal office ATM using printed payment slip

     Please select “Printed payment slip (transfer form) [支払用の払込取扱票(振込用紙)]” in “Participation fee payment method (参加費支払い方法)” when applying for participation from the Web site. Printed payment slip will be sent to the address you entered in “Mailing address (郵送先)”. Please make payment by the deadline indicated on the printed payment slip (払込取扱票).

    3. Deposit to JCRS account of JP bank or Shikoku bank.

     Please refer to the table below 「Registration Fee」,and deposit the appropriate amount into the following account.

    Outline of Presentations

    Please fill out the registration form with your participant registration information and submit it to the Organization Committee through the web site indicated above.

    If you would like to make a presentation, you should inform us about the presentation type (oral or poster), title of your presentation, name and affiliation in your registration. Please note that all presenters must be members of JCRS except for invited speakers and students in high school and below. The Organizing Committee has the privilege to decide the form of presentation for all participants. You may be asked to change the presentation style form depending upon the number of presentation applications.
    ※In principle, only one presentation is allowed per person.

    Abstract Format

    The Abstract format template (Word format) can be downloaded here(MS-Word format).
    Please paste your abstract on this form, convert it to a PDF file, and send it to the Organizing Committee.

    Paper size: A4 (1 sheet), top and bottom margins 3 cm, left and right margins 2.5cm.

    Format
    Title: Arial font, 14 pt, centered
    Second line: All authors’ names, Times New Roman font, 12 pt, centered. Please indicate the presenter with an open circle (○). Middle name should be initialed.
    Third line:Affiliations (Abbreviation would be recommended), Times New Roman, 10 pt, centered.
    Fourth line: Keywords (1-2 words and less than 5 keywords), Times New Roman, 10 pt, centered.
    Fifth line: Abstract, Times New Roman, 12 pt, full-justified
    Other details: Figures and tables can be included with abstracts.

    Please ensure that any unusual fonts or symbols can be read properly in the PDF file format before sending files. Also, please make sure the format is correct. Please make sure the file size does not exceed 1MB before sending it to the Committee.

    Presentation Guidelines

    Details will be announced when the program is released in October. All presenters must be members of JCRS except invited speakers and students in high school and below.

    Oral presentations:15 minutes are allotted, including set-up and questions. Presenters need to prepare electric presenation and your own PC (Win/Mac). Presentation will be conducted as live-presentaion sharing your presentation in your PC though the Zoom.

    Poster presentations:Please prepare your poster in PDF format. We are considering the presentation format such as Remo. Details will be announced later.

    Presentation Award for Young Scientists

     Presentation Awards for Young Scientists will be given to young JCRS members less than or equal to 35 years, who take excellent oral and poster presentations, and have never won the award. The candidates who intend to entry for the award must be submit from “Registration form” by Sept. 23rd 2020.

    Call for mini-workshops

    The Organizing Committee welcomes the organization of associated meetings for specific topics concerning coral reef studies in Japanese/English languages. We prepare Zoom rooms according to the request by the organizers. The organizers must be the JCRS-member. Please note that NON- JCRS-member can freely have presentations at and participate in the mini-workshop.

    If you would like to organize a meeting, please send the following information to the Organizing Committee (jcrstaikai@gmail.com)by 17:00 on Oct. 5th (Fri).

    3) Desired date and time,
    4) Summary (about 150 words)

    Call for online virtual event

    The Organizing Committee welcomes the event that takes advantage of the virtual platform (e.g. free travel expenses) . We prepare Zoom rooms according to the request by the organizers. The organizers must be the JCRS-member. Please note that NON- JCRS-member can freely have presentations at and participate in the virtual event.

    If you would like to organize a meeting, please send the following information to the Organizing Committee (jcrstaikai@gmail.com)by 17:00 on Oct. 5th (Fri).

    Call for elementary, junior, and senior high school students’ poster exhibition

    The Organizing Committee welcomes poster exhibitions of coral reef studies by elementary, junior, and senior high school students. Students who will make the poster presentation and up to one their attendant (non-JCRS member is acceptable) can attend without registration fee payment. Registration must be done via the web site for JCRS23 registration by 9:00 on Sept. 23rd (Wed).
